Game Guide Contest Round 2!

We are starting our second round of the game guide contest. We have added a new component this time - video!

Prizes

If your guide is a winner, the prize for this round is an added enchantment level to the weapon of your choice! You can choose one tradeable item that you currently own, trade it to GMNyx or GMJetzen, and they will trade you back a version with an additional +1 enchant of the same item!

Contest Dates

Contest starts July 30, 2010 and runs through September 1, 2010. This is to give everywhere who wants to participate ample time to develop a good guide!

Here is what we want from you:

1) Write a guide designed to help new players learn a particular aspect of the game. Guides we are looking for include (but are not limited to) guides on starting a new character for each class, crafting, quest guides, areas to level in by level and class, etc. Each guide MUST submit a supporting video of some kind that would assist players in understanding the guide.

2) In order to qualify, guides must be:

• Detailed and specific including, without limitation, NPC names and locations, item names, locations where items can be obtained, etc. There is no specific word requirement or limit, but simplistic guides with not enough information will not be considered.
• Spell-checked
• Must include all relevant information about the topic presented in such a way that someone who has never played the game before could understand it.
• Should include appropriate screenshots.
• Must have a link to a video of your creation that is no longer than 5 minutes that would help players understand the information contained in the guide.
• You may use any recording software and any hosting website that you like. Hypercam and YouTube are both free to use, but you may use the software and hosting site of your choice.

3) No foul language, inappropriate content, game bugs, exploits or errors will be permitted.

4) Your submission must not infringe any patent, copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property right, or any privacy, publicity, or publishing rights of any third party, or be libelous, obscene, or otherwise contrary to law.

5) Email your guide as a Word document to nyx@ncsoft.com and include the link to the video.

6) Send an email to nyx@ncsoft.com that includes your name (first and last), age, location (city, state/province, country), a valid email address and the following statements:

If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities.By submitting an entry to this contest, I accept and agree to be bound by the Lineage® Game Guide Contest Official Rules and Conditions.

7) You may enter as many times as you wish. You only need to submit one email rather than one for each entry; provided, however, that you must state such e-mail covers all of your submissions related to this Contest. Your forum account and game account must be in good standing in order to participate; provided, however, that a player may only win once.

Question for ya... what will be done with all these guides? Will u post some of them or publish them on the website?

They will be published on the website. I have not finished formatting the first set yet because our focus has been on getting the new content to PTS. Hopefully, I will be able to get those done in the near future (no promises!)

How can we know that our guide will not overlap one that already won the first phase of this contest?

And a video? Really? Honestly, I think everything can be clear with good screen shots and a clear explanation.

Oh, if you want us to record some lineage action, a link to a free recorder that we could use would be very appreciated.

1) Prizes description
The prize breakdown is as follows:
Ten (10) Grand Prize Winners Will Each Receive:

The opportunity to have one item currently owned by the Winner increased by one enchant level in-game - this would only apply to tradeable items since the player would have to trade their item to either GMNyx or GMJetzen who would then trade them back a version that is an additional +1 enchant. (Estimate Retail Value $0.00)

Drat - I intended to change the weapon to "any equipable item." We will enchant a weapon or a piece of armor to +1 of the item you give us. Previous winners can win again.

Hypercam is the free software that I have recently been using with Lineage. My licensed copy of fraps does not work with Lineage, and I recently tried Hypercam at the suggestion of several people on the boards.

I will make a list of guides that I already have (winners from last time) a little later today, so that you are not duplicating something I already have.

This is going to be hard. Going through NCO academy we had to give 5 minute speeches and a final 15 minute speech and that's not much time to go over some things very thoroughly.

Is there a penalty for going over the 5 minute limit as in it will be disqualified?

This may lead to some very small issues being covered. Brain storming still though since you already answered another question of mine.

I was going to ask if we can do a video walk through of our original guide we submitted QQ

Also Although there were only 10 winners last time I;m sure you recieved many more guides than 10 so how limited are we in our selection for a topic to cover? Can we not do a video guide of the people who did not win?

I'm thinking of using my JVC Everio but it makes all my videos look all... home video...ee (new word I claim it!).

So is video quality graded? What if some people cant afford a video camera and some can afford a $15000.00 movie making camera?

Oh well, we have a month to put together a 5 minute video. I guess the sooner Nyx posts what she already has the sooner we can start shooting video so I'll just sit and wait

Nvm, i found windows movie maker 2.6, it's pretty simple and it works.

For hypercam, this game runs 640x480, so for the window that it does, the x and y coordinate are zero, and the length and width are 640 and 480 to get the whole screen. If you don't do this, the cam will try and capture your whole screen, and your videos will be enormous-sized.
